Bought a used Jupiter Bari for $1000. The guy claims its about 12-20 years old, but its in very good condition. I am excited! Let me tell you, withdrawing all that money from an ATM with 5 strangers watching is a little scary. I don't know what her name is yet : /
I won the Julius Keilwerth Baritone Saxophone SX 90 auction with $3,051 I was still below reserve, which I'm guessing was $4k+.
Motherfucker.
But for $4k I could get the Keilwerth ST90 bari which apparently isn't as nice ( judging by the price ) brand new. Like many of other things its all subjective so saxophone reviews don't tell me much aside from craftsmanship.
I guess I'll just buy a computer with the money. Ho Hum : /
I'll get by. Meanwhile join me in rubbing one out to this nasty little thang:
Keilwerth SX90 bass saxophone ( non production model, handbuilt by Martin Grunewald )
I know Sean gets it.
Mint Julius Keilwerth Baritone Saxophone SX 90 on ebay
I played on a new-ish Yanigasawa bari today. Man what a difference quality makes!
Playing saxophone is really painful now. Augh. I beat this before, i can do it again.
I tired a free fencing lesson today at GuardUp in Burlington. It was allright but right now id rather spend my time and money elsewhere.
Got my Charlie Parker Omnibook and my Real Book today. Shit this stuff is hard!
I finally got around to listening to the Dropkick Murphys stuff I have on my iPod and i like it a lot. --scenepoints for liking an established band. I think I've lost my taste for beer now as well. Slowly but surely my body is ensuring that never have fun eveeeeeeeeeeer again :3.
So the rehearsal with the "Saxyderms" went well. The Tufts center for the arts is beautiful, I'm incredibly jealous. Anyway we'll be playing somewhere around Copley sometime around 11-1PM tommorow. In 2 hours we read through maybe 15-20 pieces(?) By the end I was dead tired, but happy to know that I was playing with some enthusiastic people.
I've been reading Dune like its my Job; the book is illmatic. I think my father told me it sucked so I never thought to read it.
And for those chobs desparately in need of another endlessly long series to kill time between Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind releases you could do worse than to start plowing through George Martin's material. Although i hear after book 4 he starts running out of material. Why can't authors write 10,000 page anthologies that are continually fresh and interesting? The encyclopedia is many times larger and it never seems to run out of material!
Some random saxophone orchestra messaged me by way of myfacebookjournalcupidlist...vox and asked if I wanted to play with them. So braces be damned (and they are) I'll be rehearsing with them tonight and playing a gig with them this Saturday on Newbury street. I think I can still pull off the poor college kid look, maybe I'll make some scratch.
